How to use WhatsApp’s new group call feature

How to use WhatsApps new group call feature

WhatsApp recently rolled out a new group calling feature. The feature — available for both iOS and Android — will allow users to add up to 32 participants to voice call on WhatsApp. Wondering how to use this feature? Before we tell you the steps, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Do note that this is a feature meant only for voice calls and not video calls.

Make sure you and your contacts have strong internet connections when placing or receiving group voice calls. The quality of the voice call will depend on the contact with the weakest connection.

During a group voice call, you won’t be able to switch the call to a video call.

You can’t remove a contact during a group voice call. The contact would need to hang up their phone to disconnect from the call.

While it’s possible to be in a group voice call with someone you’ve blocked, you can’t add a contact that you’ve blocked to the call or a contact that has blocked you. You can ignore the call if you don’t want to be connected with the blocked contact.

Follow these steps:

Make a group voice call from a group chat

Open the group chat you want to voice call.

If your group chat has 33 or more participants, tap Group call button.

If your group chat has 32 or fewer participants, tap Voice call and confirm your decision. The first seven people who answer can join the call, and only group members can participate.

Find the contacts you want to add to the call, then tap Voice call

Make a group voice call from an individual chat

Open the individual chat with one of the contacts you want to voice call.

Once the contact accepts the call, tap Add participant.

Find another contact you want to add to the call, then tap ADD.

Tap Add participant if you want to add more contacts.
